Why Giving Thanks Is Fuel for Progress

You may not celebrate the national holiday, but most people agree that thanksgiving in general is a good thing. A positive thing, right?

Yet, observing a holiday to focus on the giving of thanks is arguably evidence that we don’t appreciate the real value of thanksgiving in our lives.

Sometimes being thankful is challenging, because we have cares and concerns that overwhelm our emotions and steal all our attention. When we’re living in frustrating times, we can lose our sense of gratitude because we are currently experiencing bitterness.

But have you ever considered the benefits of giving thanks?

There are mental, emotional, social, and even health benefits connected to expressing and practicing gratitude. Whether you have faith or not, you can practice gratitude as an attitude.

And studies show there is no downside.

So, why aren’t we more appreciative of what and who we have supporting us?

Focus for Gratitude

As with most things, it’s a matter of focus. When you are focused on what isn’t going right, you will lose focus of what is thankworthy. When you are consumed by what you are missing, you will miss what is present.

You will miss the present.

And you have much to be thankful for, friend. Spend this day focusing on what you have to be thankful for, and enjoy the benefits of the mindset reset you experience as a result. Use the clarity of thought and insight that gratitude and thanksgiving bring to fuel your life.

Expressing thankfulness:

  • Sharpens your perspective
  • Releases stress
  • Strengthens your relationships
  • Builds your resiliency
  • Opens you to creative possibilities
  • Proves you are ready to accept and handle more

Tell the people who support you, “Thank you”. Steward over your resources like you appreciate having them. If you serve God, be grateful unto him and bless his name.

It will reignite you and give you strength for the day, and for what lies ahead.
